ladies day

This is a mood board that I did for the Ladies day project, The images are part of my inspiration for my designs.

These are my initial design ideas that I did. While doing these designs, I realised the fabric that would be used would be a firm fabric in order to do justice to the design and shape.

My final garment was inspired by images off my research mood board. I wanted it to be classy but at the same time modern. I think royal blue and cream are a very good contrast in colours.

1950s

My research into culture consisted of indian and african surface pattern which as you can see have samples inspired by the culture. I was heavily inspired by the indian surface pattern in particular the shapes and colours.

After coming up with the shape of dress that I wanted, I experimented with different surface patterns that I could potentially use on my dress. These surface pattern designs were inspired by the Indian research that i did.

After coming up with my initial ideas, I realized that i wanted something simple but effective. So I came up with this for my final design. Although the dress is heavy, The gathers in the dress give it shape to ensure the sides aren't flat.

Capture project- photography

My theme for my photography project was water ways and canal boats. these are the images I took whilst on the boat.

I wanted to capture the journey of the boats on the canals to show people what its like. These images have been changed to black and white, then inverted on photoshop and printed onto acetate.

They are then projected onto photographic paper to make a photogram which gives it the grain effect which gives the image more depth.

These images are my final 4 images for the project as i think they are the most successful images using this particular technique.

Collection

My research stared by looking into fashion designers such as Alexander Mcqueen and Giorgio Armani. A lot of my designs are inspired by Alexander Mcqueen and the colours and styles that he uses.

I then went onto looking into more collections that have been shown at previous fashion events such as London fashion week and New york fashion week to see what the latest trends are and the latest style.

This is my research that i did into PVC clothing, i collected different colours of PVC to see which colours would work best for my collection.

I then did a moodboard on the colour scheme and lable that I will be using in my collection. I was again inspired by Alexander Mcqueen to do patchwork as he does in his collections.

I went on to do my design ideas which was inspired by my research i had done previously. This is one of the toile garments that i made. I am now ready to start making my garments out of fabrics ready for the upcoming Fashion show.

Costume Design- Midsummer Nights Dream

This is my research that i did of the chosen characters that i could potentially be designing for. This includes a mind map of various ideas that could be used in the design process. Also costume that have previously been designed for Oberon and Helena in the past. This also includes information about the characters and what they are like throughout the play.

After getting picked to design a costume for Oberon, I came up with these initial designs for the costume. I wanted to go for the grungy, dark look as he is a dark fairy.

I was drawn towards these designs as they are more old fashioned and fit in with the play very well. The people who i presented these designs to were also drawn towards the left hand design which was suitable for the part.

This is my final design for Oberon, the reason I chose these colours for my fabric is because I wanted a dark, grungy look but a military design.
